PDF version available at the bottom of this page.

Good Morning Year 2, please see the activities below we would like you to do today. Remember you can take photos or use your exercise book.

We hope you have fun!

English

LO:  I can recognise different sentence types.

Activity:

Watch Rosie’s new set 3 sound on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

We have learnt about different sentence types lots of times before.

We have statements, questions, exclamations and commands. Can you remember what punctuation each sentence needs at the end?

On Purple Mash, find ‘Little Red Meets the wolf’ in your alerts. Drag the correct punctuation to the sentences.

Do you need a full stop, question mark, exclamation mark or comma? There is a timer on the game, can you try again and complete it faster?

Finding it tricky: Use the 1.7.20 English – Sentence Types pdf to help you.

Maths

LO: I can find a half of a group of objects

Activity

Whilst looking at fractions we have found out that a half is written as ½. There are two equal groups, as the denominator (the number at the bottom) is 2. Today we are going to find half of a quantity so will need to count 1 group to find the total.

Using your choice of counting resources, draw two groups, share your objects equally between them to find half of these numbers. Write your answers in your workbook, the first one has been done for you.

  • 10

½ of 10 is 5

Connected Curriculum (Learning and Life Skills – It’s Up To Me)

LO: I can talk about what the school online safety guidelines are and I can explain why we have them.

Activity:

We would like you to read this e-book about Online Safety called ‘Digiducks Famous Friend’

https://www.childnet.com/resources/digiduck-stories/digiducks-famous-friend

Once you have finished reading the story, answer these questions:

Why was Digiduck excited to go to school in the morning?

Why does the mystery guest not answer Proud.pig’s question?

Why were Digiduck and his friends surprised to see Wise_Owl on stage?

What did you learn from the story about staying safe online?

You can either use this as a speech and language task, or if you would like to get creative you could make your own poster about staying safe online so that you can explain to your brother/sister/cousin!

Resources:

Online PDF e-book and paper, pens/pencils if needed.

Stay safe, best wishes from Mrs Bunce, Miss Collins, Miss Friend and Mrs Smith xxx
