St.Pauls Infant School

Wednesday 1st July

PDF version available at the bottom of this page.

Good Morning Year 1, please see below the activities we would like you to do today. Remember you can take photos (if you have made, shown or drawn something) or use your exercise book to write any sentences or complete any number sentences.

We hope you have fun!

English

LO:  I can use key words to explain the grammar in writing.

Activity:

When we write we use lots of different types of words (describing words, plurals) and different types of punctuation (full stops, question marks, exclamation marks). Today we would like you to spot the following features in any books you have at home, or the nursery rhymes you looked at yesterday!

  • Capital letter
  • Plural word
  • Singular word
  • Question mark
  • Exclamation mark
  • Sentence
  • Full Stop

You could even become a teacher and teach your grown-ups what the following words mean!

Resources:

Books, Nursery Rhymes

Maths

LO:  I can draw the hands of the clock to represent half past.

Activity

Today we are going to be looking at the big hand on the clock. This tells us what part of the hour we are on. When the hand is at the bottom of the clock (pointing at number 6), it is half way through the hour.

Can you look carefully at the following times and see if you can draw the hands in the correct position on the clock. Please see attached sheet. E.g. Half Past 1

Resources:

Clock faces (attached sheet)

Connected Curriculum (History)

LO: I can find something out by looking closely at old objects or photographs.

Activity:

We would like you to think about the way that we travel from one place to another. How many different modes of transport can you think of? Perhaps you could create a mind map or a list of the different modes you think of. We would like you have a look at the following pictures and consider the modern version we would have today. Can you write a few sentences to describe them and how they have changed or been adapted over the years? Perhaps you could find out when they were first invented or who they were used by, by using the internet?

Resources:

Photographs (attached), exercise book and internet for research.

Stay safe, best wishes from Miss Puncher, Miss Taylor and Mrs Wilson xxx
