St.Pauls Infant School

Wednesday 15th July

PDF version available at the bottom of this page.

Good Morning Year 1, please see below the activities we would like you to do today. Remember you can take photos (if you have made, shown or drawn something) or use your exercise book to write any sentences or complete any number sentences.

We hope you have fun!

English

LO:  I can write two or three sentences about the same topic.

Activity:

Today we would like you to write your letter to your new teacher! Remember all the important parts of writing a letter from last term. You need to have the address, a greeting and an ending! You could even include a couple of your questions you would like to ask them.

Miss Collins, Mrs Bunce, Miss Friend and Mrs Smith are really excited to see your letters and cannot wait to read all about you!

We really want to impress them, so remember all your capital letters, finger spaces and punctuation (. ! ?), you could include joining words and adjectives. But remember, we want it to look beautiful so try your best to male your handwriting super neat by sitting it on the line and having your letters a similar size.

If you’re finding this tricky, we have included a template to help you if you require it.

Resources:

Your exercise book.

Template (optional)

Maths

LO: I can arrange and order shapes and objects in patterns.

Activity

What is a pattern? What different things can we consider when we make a pattern? Do you have anything around your home that is a pattern or when out on a walk, can you spot any patterns? Patterns can be made using shapes, colours, sizes and many other different things.

Some examples are as follows:

Can you use some different items from around your home to create some patterns?

Looking for more?

Can you finish off these patterns, looking carefully at what needs to go next to carry on the patterns?

Resources:

Items from your home and PDF (optional)

Connected Curriculum (Music)

LO: I can respond to different composers and genres of music.

Activity:

What do you know about music? How long has music been around for? Has it always sounded the same?                As new technology has been created, music styles and genres have changed over the last several hundred years. We would like you today to have a listen to the following pieces of music and listen carefully to what you can hear e.g. instruments used, quality of music, computed technology used etc. Have a discussion about what you hear and which ones you like the most. Why? Do you think the pieces of music are modern or older? Where might these types of music originate from? Is it instruments that are making these sounds?
