St.Pauls Infant School

Thursday 16th July

PDF version available at the bottom of this page.

Good Morning Year 1, please see below the activities we would like you to do today. Remember you can take photos (if you have made, shown or drawn something) or use your exercise book to write any sentences or complete any number sentences.

We hope you have fun!

English

LO:  I can write two or three sentences about the same topic.

Activity:

Today we would like you to become superheroes! We would like you to become your own superhero! You have all been superheroes through this period of time and we are super proud of you. Your new teachers love making a display all about you for Term 1 so that your learning is already in the classroom. Today we would like you to complete the attached activity.

Once you have completed it, you could create your own mask and cape as an added extra bit of fun!

Resources:

Superhero about me and mask templates.

Maths

LO: I can name 3D shapes and talk about their properties.

Activity

Today we are going to have a think about 3D shapes. Remember that a 3D shape is a ‘fat’ shape or something that could fit something in side of it. Have a look at the attached PowerPoint to remind yourself of the names of some of the different 3D shapes. Once you have looked at it, can you find any 3D shapes around your home?

When we think about the properties of each shape we can talk about the edges, faces and vertices.

Can you complete the attached sheet, thinking carefully about the properties that each shape has?

Resources:

PowerPoint, worksheet (attached)

Connected Curriculum (Art)

LO: I can explore a range of mediums when creating a piece.

Activity:

It’s a very exciting time as you know which class you will be in next year when you move to Year 2. Today we would like you to use anything you have in your home to create your new class animal. Be as creative as you can using a range of different materials, but remember to think carefully about the colour and materials that will help you make it look realistic.

Resources:

Art resources from around your house - toilet roll tubes, paper plates, material off cuts, paint, scissors, glue etc.

Stay safe, best wishes from Miss Puncher, Miss Taylor and Mrs Wilson xxx
