PDF version available at the bottom of this page.

Good Morning Year 1, please see below the activities we would like you to do today. Remember you can take photos (if you have made, shown or drawn something) or use your exercise book to write any sentences or complete any number sentences.

We hope you have fun!

English

LO:  I can say if a sentence is a question and add a question mark.

Activity:

Last week you found out what class you are going to be in next year and who your grown-ups will be. We would like you to think about any questions you might have that you would like to ask them. This could be questions about what they like, what the classroom is like, what Year 2 will be like. Today we would like you to write down the questions that you have. For example:

What is your favourite book?

Where will my peg be in Year 2?

What do we learn about in Maths?

Please remember that you always need a question mark at the end of a question.

Maths

LO: I can recognise odd and even numbers.

Activity

Can you remember what it means if a number is odd or even? When a number is odd it cannot be shared equally, there is always some odd ones out. Have a watch of the video to help us understand a little bit more. Have a think about our numicon pieces, if a number is even it always has a friend next to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wzyD3qrWUc

Can you gather 10 things from around your house (e.g. Lego, pasta, pencils etc.?) Have a go at seeing if you can share these items between 2 groups. Then can you make a list of all of the odd numbers and even numbers?

Looking for a challenge?

Can you find out about numbers 11 -20 – which ones are odd and which are even?

Connected Curriculum (History)

LO: I can find out things from the past using sources for information.

Activity:

Today we would like you to do a little research about ‘The Great Exhibition’ of 1851. What was it for? Did anyone important attend? What things were shown at this exhibition? Remember when using the internet with your grown-ups to use ‘Swiggle’ search for appropriate content. Have a discussion with your grown-ups about what you have found.

Here are some good starting points for you:
